You can contact me via the Contact Me page or get my contact info off of the syllabus for your class. Who is your Teacher?Hello,
I am Mrs. Giannosa. I am in my 100th year of teaching at Franklin High School. I love being a Yellow Jacket. This year I am teaching the IB Core Theory of Knowledge Course for Years 1 and 2. I will also be your Extended Essay Coordinator for years 1 and 2 during the IB Core Lab course. In the past I have taught History, Literature, and Psychology. TOK may be my favorite class to teach because it is an opportunity to combine our knowledge from all areas. Its an opportunity to explore how we know what we claim to know and to deeply and critically question how the world around us shapes our knowledge and our paradigms. We are given an opportunity to challenge our basic assumptions and biases while expanding our perspectives through open and respectful dialogue and exploration. I love teaching Theory of Knowledge because I love thinking about the way we interact with the world around us. I think it is fascinating the way our environment can shape our thoughts; and conversely, how our thoughts can shape the reality of our world. I also appreciate how Theory of Knowledge allows us to delve more deeply into the processes of our learning and how we can think about the way experts develop, evaluate, and analyze knowledge critically. My favorite thing is when students have breakthrough moments and think about their interaction with their academics and the greater world. When they realize they have the power to challenge their basic assumptions and control the narrative of their realities, they become powerful. Other things to know about me: I love animals; I have two cats and three dogs. They are all goofy and fun to play with. I married my high school sweetheart after more than apart ten years of exploring the world on our own, we reunited. We have now been married for ten years. I have a son who is currently in the Navy! I love to travel; I have taken vacation in 15 states; but I have traveled through 21 states (mostly in the South). I've also been to Canada. My favorite places to travel are Washington D.C. and Disneyland! I love the colors cerulean blue and apple green. I am a HUGE Detroit Lions fan (I'm a HUGE Football fan in general but I have to Defend the Den!). When I'm not teaching, I am usually hanging out with my husband and my cats and dogs at home. You will find me catching up on a really good book or watching some of my favorite shows including Gray's Anatomy, NCIS, or All Rise. |
